Calaveras in Block Island

Best fish tacos (add avocado and cilantro!) and quac I have had on the east coast, and right up there with the best places in San Diego. Great to hear they are in Wakefield - please open up in Portsmouth, RI!

Good food and great service!! We were a party of almost 20 and everything was flawless!

Charming and family friendly little place serving decent Mexican food, the tacos are good, and the tamales are nice but dry. Don't bother with the elota, or Mexican street corn. It is just regular corn kernels in a bowl.

Love the food. Friendly staff. Good view of Harbor. Nicely decorated.

Excellent spot for quick tacos and other Mexican foods like Tortas and quesadillas. Quick friendly service, order at the counter and its brought out by a waitress. Great flavor and quality of food.

Stopped by here to get a rest from the sun. The drinks were refreshing, tacos were good, and ceviche was amazing. It's a nice small place with a chill atmosphere. Great place for a small group of people.

Amazing place!!! Whether you order breakfast or lunch it is terrific, fresh made and authentic Mexican food. Great atmosphere, sit yourself style place. Gem of the island with excellent prices to accompany even better food!

This place is SO GOOD you have to stop in and check it out. Its truly authentic mexican food, im mexican i would know!!!!! And its Mexican owned too so dont worry about that. CHECK IT OUT order anything that pleases your eye on the menu, or else youre missing out!

Nice and specious in door and out door sitting. It's Mexican food that we were looking for. Good test and enough options. Nice presentation. Staff was really great and super helpful.

When we took the ferry over to Block Island we were not expecting a knockout Mexican eatery with handmade tortillas and salsa. But Calaveras surprised us. Great food. Quality ingredients. Friendly and helpful staff. Plus we ate outdoors on the front lawn at a picnic table with a view of the Bay and enjoyed a lovely dinner before the last ferry back.

Mexican/Bulgarian style restaurant, I wouldnt call the restaurant authentic to one style. It's a order at the counter and seat yourself style place. Burritos, wraps, tacos. Bottles drinks, no alcohol served.

The food is really expensive and didn't taste that good. The chairs are uncomfortable. It took a long time to get our food after ordering. I had ordered Carne Asada, expecting it to come already sliced but it was one big hunk. It was supposed to come with avocado, but it did not. When I asked about it, they said they're all out of avocados. It would have been nice to know ahead of time and to maybe get a discount on such an expensive dish missing one of it's parts.

Fun, casual place with good food!

Couldn’t eat our fish & veggie tacos - very fishy chopped up fish and soggy, old, brown veggies. The waitress and cashier were very nice and accommodating, they did refund our money and said they had complaints about the fish before, but the kitchen staff didn’t make any changes. Still feeling queasy from the experience!

One of the better low-key food places on Block. Huevos Rancheros is just what I want for breakfast, tastier and probably healthier than other breakfast places on the island.Their after breakfast menu is what really shines in my opinion!

Spectacular....lunch was so good that we went back for dinner which was just as wonderful. Being in the restaurant business my whole life, I was surprised to find an authentic Mexican restaurant on Block Island. All ingredients were fresh and of the highest quality. Julio the chef/owner and his wife were a delight to talk to after we finished our meal. We will definitely be back next year when we visit the island. We wish we had a Mexican restaurant of this caliber near us in New Jersey.

Really good food with matching good prices. Great place to go with friends or family. Nice portions. Close to Ballard's so would be a great alternative if your itching for something other than the ballard menu but your still gonna hit there.

Really great and authentic food. Salsa Verde is perfect. Great guacamole and mole sauce. Very causal. Nice portions.
